tidbits

I have a flip-top desk in the corner of the dining room. It's becoming a nice little cubbyhole for little man. He sometimes runs to that corner, plops under the desk and does whatever needs doing. Yesterday it was taking shoes off, then attempting to put Jeans ON. It didn't work so well.

From 17 Months

Blue Eyes has learned to blow bubbles in the bathtub, and is very proud of himself when he's doing it. So cute. All these little things... he's growing up!

He still takes a pacifier, but only when he's sleeping. The rule is that the pacifier is supposed to stay in the crib, so he gets it right when he lays down in bed, and he has to give it up before he can get out of bed in the morning. Sometimes he's a little reluctant giving it up, but he never throws a fit or acts like he needs it any other time. We're pretty lucky.

We've been down to one pacifier for a couple weeks now, and when we stayed a night at great-grandparent's house last weekend, Blue Eyes woke up and needed that paci to go back to sleep. Only problem? We couldn't find it. We hunted and dug and in the meantime little man thought it was probably time to get up and play. Daddy finally went out to the truck, only to find that it somehow got left out there. Argh. That's when we decided we REALLY needed to have a spare.

So I picked up two new pacifiers the other day. The first night, I gave Blue Eyes one of the new ones and he had to analyze it for awhile before he could put it in his mouth and go to sleep. Today, at naptime, I gave him the new one that is a different color than his.. he looked at it like there was something wrong with it, so I handed him his old one. He immediately took the old one, popped it in his mouth, and threw the new one aside.

And, random, I happen upon this picture from a month ago and every time it just makes me laugh. We were taking group pictures and Blue Eyes was standing just out of the frame acting like he was on stage.
